Desperation and Self Motivation

Out of curiosity fellow readers, at what point of life are you at currently? Are you satisfied and content with whatever direction your life is headed, or do you feel you are in between something that’s in between another thing that’s outside another, beside one other and in front of twenty more?

If you are at the former point, good for you (and feel free to leave me your email below for advice I may need). If however you belong to the latter class or better yet relate to it, I have the greatest news you’ve heard yet; “Tuko wengi” (For my foreign friends who may not understand that, it simply means, ‘best wishes’☺).

Anyway, in my many endeavors and exploits in life as the old soul that I am, I have come to discover one thing; you need to be desperate. And no, I don’t mean the annoying kind of desperate that leaves everyone running away from you. That is probably the worst thing you could do to yourself. The kind of desperate I’m talking of here is the ‘I’m tired’ kind. The kind that won’t let you settle for less than you deserve because you know where you’re going. The desperation to leave things better than you found them. You just have to be desperate enough to go for the change you want to see. Desperate enough to go out of your comfort zone to achieve your dreams. Tired of your current situation and desperate enough to make it a better one tomorrow. You just have to be desperate enough.

Now, I know I started with two different points in life you may be at, and if you identified with the latter you could be thinking; “How could being desperate enough help me when I don’t even know what to do with my life right now? I mean I know where I want to be, I just don’t know where I currently am at.”  Good news, I totally relate. Everyone does at some point in life. Bad news, it’s all up to you to figure things out. You are your greatest enemy and could be your greatest setback. But you could as well be your greatest cheerleader.

You have to find a way to motivate yourself. Everyone gets to that point some time in life but what you do when you get there makes the difference. You may not feel like facing another day but you have to stride on. You have to motivate yourself to keep going. Find motivation within. Find a reason to keep going despite not knowing what to do with where you are at. Keep going with the hope that things will get better because they definitely will. Better to hope than to not hope at all. If nothing will keep you going let hope be. Be desperate enough to want to get out of that situation that in itself, that gets to be your motivation. Then go ahead and face life.

 

Bottom line is; you have to be desperate enough. You have to be tired enough of being where you are, that you find motivation within. The motivation to keep going, motivation to make a difference, motivation to bring the change you think is needed; the motivation to achieve dreams and visions. That’s the kinda desperation you need.
